The largest natural high altitude lake in Europe (2228 meters).
The lake is located in a cirque formed by the glaciers’ thaw in the quaternary era.
The lake water is essentially from melting snow and autumn rains.

On foot from allos village, you need about 6 hours return walk.
On foot from the Cluite car park, you need about 5 hours return walk.
You cal also go by car to the Laus car park, then you need about 1h30 for an easy return walk.
The road to go to the Laus car park is opened only from june 15th till october 15th.
In summer the Laus car park is paying between 9am to 5pm (its access is possible only according to the spaces available). Beyond this schedule access is free.
